Depth-oriented therapy for couples and individuals in Lake Oswego, Oregon
Hi! I’m Dawn
A PNW native, therapist by trade, horse girl at heart and Trader Joe’s enthusiast. I’m so glad you’re here.
I work with couples and individuals from my cozy office in Lake Oswego and virtually throughout Oregon. Yes, there are snacks. I’m a firm believer that finding a therapist you vibe with is the most important factor. As you poke around my site, see what connects with you. Maybe it’s one of my areas of specialty, or maybe it’s a curiosity about my approach. Either way, I hope you find clarity in what our work together might look like.
Dawn Myers, Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
Couples Therapy
Relational therapy can be deeply rewarding and healing, whether you’re a new partnership or have been married for 30 years. Even in relationships that matter deeply to us, we can get stuck in familiar ways of communicating and relating that leave us feeling disconnected. In therapy, we can build new ways of being together. Relationship issues I help couples navigate:
Recurring conflict that never feels fully resolved
Feeling disconnected or experiencing a lack of intimacy and closeness
Differences in sexual desire
Difficulty communicating or understanding each other’s needs
The impact of trauma or adverse childhood experiences on a relationship
Navigating perimenopause, menopause, and changes in intimacy
Rebuilding trust after infidelity or a significant relationship rupture
Individual Therapy
Our lives are shaped by the countless experiences, relationships, and moments that make us who we are. There’s so much to explore! Individual therapy offers space to go deeper, better understand your inner world, and reorient how you move through life. If you crave a deeper connection to yourself, you’re in the right place. Areas of focus in individual therapy:
Chronic stress and anxiety that your usual coping tools aren’t helping
Experiencing distress within close relationships; partners, family, friends
Body image concerns, disordered eating patterns and chronic dieting
Sexual shame and a desire to explore your sexual self
Religious trauma, deconstruction, and shifts in faith or identity
Perimenopause, menopause, and women’s health
Interest in exploring one’s inner world, perhaps feeling disconnected
Religious Trauma Therapy
Religious and spiritual experiences become our lens for how we understand ourselves and move through the world. High-control religious environments influence our sense of identity, relationships, sexuality, and self-worth. We can explore these experiences at your own pace and reimagine a worldview that feels authentic to you. Areas we can explore in religious trauma therapy:
Guilt and shame around who you are, what you want, or the decisions you make
Sexual shame and the lasting effects of purity culture
Feeling disconnected from your body, needs, or intuition
Untangling gender norms and expectations
Grieving life experiences delayed or restricted by religious rules
Finding your footing when established beliefs no longer fit and you’re unsure what you believe instead
